Were you born to shop? I was. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to own my own clothing boutique. When I was a little girl and played with cabbage patch dolls I was always the “mommy” who owned a shop. I would hang all the doll clothes on hangers around the kitchen table to make clothing “rounders” so my friend could shop with me. Now they are! This blog is the storefront I’ve always dreamed of. My friends everywhere get to shop with my style tips and high-low mix.
In March 2020 the Nordstrom store I had worked at for 20 years closed because of COVID and never reopened. In Sept of 2020, I started closetchoreography.com. The style tips I share here will help you make the most of your wardrobe and wear what looks best on your body.
MONOCHROMATIC STYLE TIP SHORTCUT
Since my first blog post, I’ve been sharing different ways to use this style tip. Matching your top to your bottom takes the guesswork of putting together a flattering outfit. It keeps all your proportions in check and slims and elongates your body.
As you can see in my Haute Mama Look of the Day then and now monochromatic outfits are always stylish. You can use neutral colors like black and white or your happy color. You know, the one you always get compliments on, feel good in, and usually makes up the most significant section of your closet. Whether you prefer bright colors or soft shades, head-to-toe is the way to go.
Here are some outfit ideas with one of my happy colors just in time for breast cancer awareness month coming up in Oct.
HIGH LOW STYLE TIPS
You will find your personal style and love your look when you learn the art of mix and match. A well-curated closet should host a variety of pieces you love at a variety of price points. The combinations will convey a style that is uniquely yours. Check out this blog post with Designer Inspired Amazon Finds.
During the 20 years I worked at Nordstrom and was surrounded by some of the world’s best designer brands, I developed a long wish list of them. On a retail sales income, I learned how to get the best of both worlds. Sharing and wearing a mix of designer brands and affordable fashion is part of my style and something I’m always sharing how to do here on the blog and on Instagram.
