Designer-Inspired capsule wardrobe for work

It’s not what it looks like. It’s no secret that Nordstrom is my “number one” one-stop-shop, for the best brands to build your wardrobe. Nordstrom recently made some changes to online shopping and some of their links haven’t been working. I never stop shopping for you so during this time I decided instead of troubleshooting technology I’d focus on finding new quality designer inspired brands that have “the look for less”. My picks for you will always include a high-low mix of brands. If I can bring as many of them to you from one-stop-shops Iike Nordstrom I will, but what I’m finding when I look outside the box is even better! I’m so impressed with the new designer-inspired brands I’ve discovered in my last haul that I have enough to create an entire capsule wardrobe for work.

It’s Not What It Looks Like

Looks Like Veronica Beard

This blazer is a little lighter weight than the classic double-breasted Veronica Beard “Miller” blazer. It runs big so if you are between sizes I would size down. It comes in petite and sizes from 00-18. Pair it with these ankle pants to make a suit. I had both of these pieces on during this episode of Coffee In My Closet LIVE on Instagram. Size down for the best fit.

Off White Silk FRAME “Gillian” Blouse $348

I first shared this off-white matte silk FRAME blouse as part of my First Look at Fall Capsule Wardrobe in 2023. Since then it’s gone up in price and popularity. Last winter I styled the long sleeve version for you as part of my Festive Fits Capsule Wardrobe. Revisit those free capsule wardrobe posts for outfit ideas and inspiration.

The Nordstrom 6 featured the leopard print version in our August Drop. If you decide this classic animal print is worthy of your wardrobe watch this video to get some outfit ideas and then use this LINK TO SHOP NOW.

GIVENCHY $1700

I’ve always loved Givenchy’s designs with Greek-inspired logo motif.

Name Brand Staples

Styling Tip- You only need one or two “key” pieces to make your entire capsule wardrobe look expensive even if it isn’t. Over the years I’ve found my black Veronica Beard “Miller” Blazer, a designer brand bag, two-tone fine jewelry, and premium denim to be the backbone for many of my capsules.

Ultimately the brand mix that makes the most sense is the mix that you pick! If you love a label and can afford to buy it, go for it! If when you consider the cost per wear and it’s worth it, add it to the cart! When you master your mix you become the fashion authority in your own life and your wardrobe will reflect your unique style.
