FESTIVE FITS CHECKLIST

1. Metallic Pants
These are your 2023 festive ‘fits party pants! Metallic pants have been trending, but are increasing in popularity this holiday season.
Dress them up with a silky top, blazer, and heels or style them with Converse sneakers.
You won’t have a hard time finding outfits you can make with them, but you might have a hard time finding a flattering fit in stock. Coated metallic styles are thicker and don’t have a lot of stretch so wide-leg styles look the best on most body types.

2. Short Black Skirt
Fashion this season is all about extreme silhouettes. When it comes to skirts it’s either a maxi or mini. A short black skirt looks great with opaque tights and boots or textured stockings and closed-toe platforms. I styled my Helmut Lang short skirt over this long sheer Amazon swimsuit coverup to make it look like a maxi skirt.

Here are some styles from Saks that are between 14″ and 16″ long. This length looks the best with the pieces in this capsule.

3. Suit
I’m so excited suits are coming back. The best suits are sold as separates so you can get the best fit. Separates can be styled together or solo all year long. If you’ve already invested in my blog’s best-selling Veronica Beard Miller Blazer then I highly recommend the matching tailored Veronica Beard Renzo Pants. Any style blazer will work in this capsule, but ankle-length pants will be the easiest to style. If you want more of a festive flare try a plaid suit.

4. Slip Dress
A slip dress is one of three little black dresses that deliver and has snuck its way into more than one of my capsule wardrobes.
The mouse-flattering slip dresses are cut on the bias so they kiss and don’t cling to your body. Adjustable straps are a bonus, especially if you plan to layer. My favorite fabric is this crinkle satin from Vince because it’s so easy to dress down.

5. Black Turtleneck
A basic black turtleneck serves as a staple in any woman’s winter wardrobe. I Iike a lightweight style with a little stretch. Anything synthetic or with spandex will keep its color the longest.

6. Silky Top
I introduced this silky staple in my Fall Street Style Capsule. Having key pieces like a silky top that easily transitions from casual to dressy will help you make lots of outfits.

All of these styles come in multiple colors.

7. Sheer Layer
Sheer layers are a fun way to add a festive twist to your look. This year I found this Amazon Fashion Find and have been styling it so many different ways. For a fraction of the cost of its nearly $2000 designer counterpart, you have to try it. Wear it over your slip dress or over the short black skirt. The styling options are endless. You can make some of the same festive fits with a sheer top too.

8. Jean Jacket
A jean jacket is one of the 15 closet essentials I recommend when you’re building a wardrobe from scratch. It’s also the casual cornerstone to dress down your festive fits. If you already have a classic jean jacket try a new oversized style like this.

9. Bow
According to my 16-year-old niece and all the fashionistas I know hair bows are the biggest accessory trend right now. Get the most bang for your bow and clip one onto your tank or purse strap.

10. Metallic Bag and Shoes
A metallic shoe and bag set is a styling staple I recommend all year long, but this is the best time of the year to buy them. Consider a metallic capsule with at least one shoe and one bag. You won’t regret getting metallic sneakers, flats, heels, sandals, or boots. There are so many fun festive bag options this winter. The trend is toward super tiny bags or jumbo oversized clutches.
