Sunny Vacation Outfit Essentials | Spring Break Style Survival Kit
It only takes a few new vacation outfit essentials to make you look current and cool next time you’re by the pool. Don’t leave home without a stylish swimsuit and matching coverup, fun hat, cool shades, slides, and a tote to carry them all in.
Stylish Swimsuit and Matching Coverup
Ready or not, if the destination you’re going has water, you’re gonna get wet. Helping women find the best swimsuit for their bodies has always been one of my stylist superpowers. I’m dedicating an entire blog post to it just in time for summer, but here are some suggestions you can use now.
Anything But Black.
A big misconception is that black swimsuits are the most flattering. Not true. Unlike a printed swimsuit, a solid color suit allows the eyes to stop on all those lumps and bumps. This spring colorful floral patterns are popping up everywhere. The one I’m wearing reverses to a red, pink, and white pattern.
Boden
Besides their amazing prints, these one-piece swimsuits from Boden have flattering fits built-in. This trio includes this hip halter/wrap style, a great green suit with your bra size built-in, and this pink paisley that comes in long.
Bathing Suit Button-ups
This wardrobe essential responsible for effortless style is making a splash this summer.
Crochet Touche
70’s inspired crochet pieces continue to have their place in the limelight and sunlight too.
The second swimsuit is from Amazon and is surprisingly good quality. Plus it comes in 22 color combinations.
When you’re done at the pool, some of these crochet coverups I found can do double duty with a pair of matching boyshorts or a tank top under them.
Jean Shorts + Graphic T-Shirts
Like peanut butter and jelly. Jeans shorts and a graphic t-shirt are guaranteed to get lots of wear on your next sunny vacation. Wear them together as a vacation outfit or solo as a swimsuit coverup.
I’m loving this essential oversized this summer. This versatile closet essential is also part of my Ageless Capsule Wardrobe.
Jean Short Staples
My new favorite jean shorts are this longer style from Pistola, but year after year my Agolde “parker” is my number one seller.
Sun Hats =Fun Hats
Skin cancer isn’t cool so protect your face with an accessory that is. Complete your vacation outfit with a fun new visor, trucker cap, or Panama hat.
Visors
These visors are splurge worth. The Dior is so cute on and the oversized Helen Kaminski visor rolls up!
Trucker Hat
Cooler than a baseball cap.
Panama Hat
This is my new summer hat obsession. Practical too.
You’re Future’s So Bright You’ve Got to Wear Shades
Aren’t sunglasses the ultimate cool-girl summer accessory? You’ll feel like a Kardashian in these trendy Hollywood-inspired shades. I just scored these retro shades for under $20.
Black on Black Sunnies
White Rimmed Sunnies
I’ll be rocking these vintage shades again this summer, but have a crush on these too.
Sheild Sunnies
Slide Into Summer
Your vacation outfit pictures may all end up being shoe selfies if you get these sandal styles. Get some more shoe styling outfit inspiration in my post How to Style High Waisted Wide Leg Jeans.
Birkenstock
They’re back. Wait were Birkenstocks ever out? There are so many fun styles and colors. I love my silver metallic pair for by the pool and just got this matte black pair.
Platform Sports Slides
Most of us can use a little longer leg line and some extra support in our sandals. Platforms do both. I love this Balenciaga-inspired style for under $75 that comes in 9 fabulous colors.
Studded Jellies
A dainty day to night sandal is always a good idea. Valentino sandals are splurge-worthy but you can get the look for less here.
The Best Beach Bags For Your Vacation Outfits
It’s hard to resist a new beach bag each summer. Here are a bunch of beach bags that don’t break the bank from kitchie to classic. This budget-friendly Burberry-inspired bag under $50 even comes with a zipper.
