PULL IT TOGETHER STYLE GUIDE | 2 PROFESSIONAL STYLISTS SHARE
The biggest request I get is from clients is a style guide that effortlessly pulls their look together whether it’s understated or bold. VIP Nordstrom stylist and my Nordstrom 6 friend Sandy and I partnered up to give you a simplified style guide to pulling it all together. Our personal style esthetics are very different. Sandy’s style is cool and understated and mine is fun and vibrant. We’re sharing what we’ve learned dressing hundreds of women, with all different styles, including our own.
TRICKS OF THE TRADE
This month the Nordstrom 6 was featured by international fashion publication Who What Wear. We shared the items we suggest to everyone. The thing all 6 of our suggestions had in common was their ability to effortlessly pull a look together. Sandy and I are highlighting 3 of our favorites that work with both our styles.
1. A THIRD PIECE
Sandy and I both shared our sentiment for this outfit game-changer in our Who What Wear article.
A modern blazer is my first choice for a third piece. Make sure you choose a style that fits your shoulders and defines your waist.
These beauties are worth the money. They create such a flattering silhouette you can literally wear them over anything. Added bonus the fabrications are year-round.
Under $100 but they don’t look like it.

LONG CARDIGAN
When you want to reach for something less structured for a 3rd piece, try a long cardigan. This one from Gucci may seem like a lot but when you see all the things it can do, you’ll want one too. More here in my post-AFFORDABLE GUCCI CARDIGAN.
These oversized cardiganS are so fun you may want to make them your first piece instead of your third.
Rising in popularity this spring. Try a cropped cardigan over a dress or high-waisted jeans.

3RD PIECE IN 10 PIECE CAPSULE WARDROBE
You could wear her 7 days in a row without even wearing the same outfit twice.
OVER ALL ONE COLOR
So fresh feeling over a white dress or updated jeans and a short sleeve blouse. You can use all black too.
2. THE RIGHT SHOE
A nude shoe is probably the number one item I reach for that make a look “work”. It never competes with an outfit and can elongate and slenderize like no other shoe can.
Sometimes I start with a look with my shoes. Sandy says “Shoes are a great way to show your unique personality and elevate your look.” I completely agree. Instantly update your wardrobe every season by adding a few new versatile shoe styles. Right now anything with a square toe and woven or quilted straps is in. These all come in more colors too.

SPORTY
A great sandal option in a sporty wardrobe capsule like this. They go with every outfit combination.
DRESS UP JEANS
Start with classic Levis $98, a white tank $29.50, and one button linen blazer $89.50, my favorite David Yurman hoops $375, and right-hand ring $500. The red Ganni belt for $50 is your pop. These Marc Fisher sandals $59 are the perfect heel for any outfit. This two-tone Gucci handbag for $2490 is such a great investment and really goes with everything.
3. A CLASSIC TEE
Every season you should REFRESH YOUR WHITES. Here are a few of our favorites we wear and sell on repeat. Sandy swears by the Rag & Bone crew neck. When the #nordstrom6 were in AZ Sandy and I shared a room and she even had two of these in her suitcase.
Equally as versatile and also one of my styling Staples is a graphic tee. Graphic tees are the epitome of ageless style and add instant street credibility to your look by incorporating print and personality. Get some outfit inspirations from one of my first blog posts STYLED TO A TEE here.
If multi-color prints make you nervous a simple two-tone graphic like these is super easy to incorporate.
