After a career as a Nordstrom stylist, I love shopping everywhere from Amazon to Nordstrom to create unique capsule wardrobes for every season. I just made a few quality budget-friendly versions of my resort casual capsule wardrobe with pieces starting at $8. My secret is high-low styling. SAVE ON SHORTS SETS
Even if I’m not on vacation, short sets like these become my casual mom uniform, so I found a few more I could add to my closet starting at $30 for the set!
Amazon
I ordered several short sets from Amazon and this set sold as separates was the best overall. It comes in extended sizes and 10 different color combinations. It’s a good quality set for the price.
H&M Set Under $30
I’d recommend sizing up in both pieces. I’m usually an extra small but I like the way the small fit and looked more relaxed. Sizing up doesn’t make the shorts cheeky and the hoodie doesn’t show my tummy.
GAP
This neon pink set had me at hello, but if you aren’t a big fan of neon colors they also offer black and beige separates starting under $50. It runs big but I still recommend buying true to size.
I’M BRINGING TWO PAIRS OF PANTS UNDER $20
I chose a few flowy palazzo-style pants for this capsule because they are so easy to mix and match to make a range of outfits. Pull a pair over your swimsuit or wear them out to dinner with heels. Whether you prefer prints or solids there are a plethora of pant opinions to fit your style and budget.
Amazon Under $20
Stylist Tip – I always take a pair of nude Spanx with me to wear under my crochet pants so I can style them with an off-the-shoulder top for out to dinner.
Nordstrom Pants Under $75
If you like flowy pull-on pants without a super wide leg try these linen joggers from Nordstrom. They come in 4 colors. The petite ones are only 24.5″ long and the regular 26″. There is even a pretty plus-size option in green and grey.
THE NORDSTROM STYLIST IN ME SAYS SPLURGE ON STAPLES
Because I have a chameleon style, and like to change my look often, I usually look for designer-inspired pieces so I can make multiple versions of my wardrobe capsules. I focus on quality and fit when I’m picking the hero pieces like jeans or a little white dress that I can use in every version.

Farm Rio
Cardigans, like this Farm Rio cardigan, are definitely a wardrobe staple. Because I love prints I have justified the higher designer brand prices in this category. Some of my favorite sweaters right now are from Farm Rio and Gucci, but I did just score the look for less on Amazon. Check it out.

You may want this 100% cotton v-neck cropped cardigan in every color. Available in sizes xs-XXL. It runs big but I recommend ordering your size.
